Three Lines

Privacy policy

Updated: November 2, 2026

Overview

Three Lines is an iPhone app for practicing everyday English. No account is required. Optional Unity banner ads and their data processing are described below.

Optional Unity banner ads

Starting with version 1.1.0, ads are off until you confirm that you are 16 or older and allow banners. Refusing ads does not restrict lessons. Banners appear only on Today, not during lessons or reviews. Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads may process device identifiers (including vendor or SDK-generated identifiers), IP address and country-level location, ad views/clicks and other usage information, device/connection information, and SDK performance/diagnostic data for advertising, analytics and service operation. We do not send learning records, typed answers or microphone audio to Unity. The SDK is initialized only after permission. We pass no consent for personalized advertising and an opt-out of data sale/sharing; we do not request access to IDFA or cross-app tracking. You can disable banners in the app settings at any time. This destroys displayed banners and stops new ad requests; on the next launch the SDK is not initialized. Previously received data is subject to Unity's retention and deletion policy. Contact Unity through its privacy policy to exercise rights over its data. The app does not set a custom user ID or supply purchase history; it has no purchases. Your ad choice is stored locally. Users under 16 should continue without ads.

Data on your device

The app stores assigned study dates, lesson and exercise identifiers, completion times, review sessions, your selected course day, earned badges and award dates, and your app language preference on your device. Review request dates and the study days completed at each request are also stored locally. XP is calculated from practice records. Typed answers and recognized sentences are kept temporarily for the current exercise and are not saved as learning records.

Microphone and speech

Microphone access is requested when you start speaking. English speech is processed only when Apple's on-device recognition is supported, with on-device recognition required on every request. The app does not fall back to server recognition, save audio recordings or send speech to an external server. You can decline permission and continue by typing or speaking aloud and comparing with an example.

Sharing and backups

The app has no server synchronization and does not send your learning records to the operator or an analytics service. Operating system backups may include local app data depending on your device settings. Backup and operating system services are governed by Apple's settings and policies.

Retention and choices

Learning records and language preference remain on the device until the app is deleted. You can change language in the app, revoke microphone and speech recognition permissions in iOS Settings, or delete the app to remove local app records. Revoke permissions without losing access to typed and self-check practice. Backup copies are managed through your device or backup provider.

Support requests

If you email or call support, the contact details and information you choose to share are used to respond and follow up on your request. Email is handled through Google Gmail. Messages are retained while needed to handle the inquiry and necessary follow-up, then deleted when no longer needed, subject to applicable legal obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion using the contact details below. Recordings and sensitive personal information are not required.

This website

This static support website is operated by Jeremy Min. Its origin web server does not keep ordinary access or error logs for this site. Cloudflare provides delivery and security and may process IP addresses, request information and security cookies under its service policies. Google handles support email under its policies. Provider policies are linked below; these website and email services do not receive your local learning records from the app.

Updates

This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Contact the operator using the details below for privacy questions.
